Paros Bus Station: Locations, Timetables, & Fares

Paros is a relatively small island, so if you plan on using public transportation, then you should get familiar with how to use the Paros Bus Station.

It’s easy to follow the timetables, you’ll save a lot of money on transportation, and bus routes cover the entire island!

But of course, there are some drawbacks…

It’s way slower, there are limited routes from the airport, and we always find it difficult to feel free when constrained by a bus schedule. That’s why we personally prefer to just rent our own car. But not everyone has the budget for that or feels comfortable driving around Paros.

So, after spending weeks traveling all around the island, we’re excited to show you how it’s possible to do with just buses in Paros! You can still see some of the most iconic places on the island, from Naoussa to Lefkes, Parikia, and lively beach towns like Golden Beach and Santa Maria!

Where Is The Paros Bus Station?

There are two bus stations in Paros.

The primary bus stop is the Paros Intercity Bus Terminal, which is located in Parikia, right next to Paros’ Ferry Port.

This is where we stayed the majority of our time in Paros, and we enjoyed it more than anywhere else on the island. You’ve got loads of awesome restaurants, local nightlife, and cool historic sights like the Panagia Ekatontapiliani Church.

The other major bus stop is in Naoussa. This town tends to be far more popular among tourists and has a dedicated terminal serving most of the island.

The bus station is in the center of the city, near both major car parks and within walking distance of the Venetian Castle, Piperi Beach, and most hotels and restaurants in the area.

What To Expect

We were really surprised to find out that neither bus station in Paros has a covered terminal. Instead, there’s just a small ticket booth, and the entire waiting area/terminal is outdoors.

All the buses line up in parking spaces, and after purchasing your ticket at the ticket booth, you walk up and board the corresponding bus.

Nothing is electronic, either (well, you can pay by card).

The schedules are posted in the window, and tickets are all printed on paper. Also, there is no ticket booth outside Parikia and Naoussa. Before getting to the bus stop, you’ll have to buy your tickets at local convenience stores, mini-marts, and kiosks!

Although very simple, the buses in Paros are efficient, and you can get pretty much anywhere on the island from Parikia.

Still, it can be tedious to align your itinerary with the schedule.

Because of that, we always feel like we get WAY more out of our time by renting our own car in Paros.

Plus, we’ve found some clever ways to do it without spending a fortune —> read more about our insider tips!

Facilities

You won’t find luggage storage, lockers, or restrooms at the Paros bus terminals, but it’s close enough to restaurants, shops, and businesses that this isn’t a problem.

If you really want to store your luggage somewhere while exploring the island, there are a few Radical Storage partners in Parikia!

Actually, our favorite cafe in Paros, Big Noses, is right on the corner, so it’s a nice place to get some coffee or sit down and have lunch while you wait for your bus.

What are the buses like?

The bus network in Paros is serviced by some really comfortable buses–like the kind you would typically only get on guided tours. There’s comfortable seating, Air-conditioning, and digital signs to help you follow the route and alert you that it’s the final stop.

But there’s no assigned seating, so if you like a window seat or want to sit up front, get here early!

While the bus station doesn’t have luggage storage, all of the buses in Paros have space underneath for suitcases, large backpacks, and even water sports equipment.

Are Buses Expensive In Paros?

No, the buses in Paros are very cheap, especially compared to other transportation in Paros.

The bus ride cost within the main cities is typically between €2 to €4, depending on your destination and time of day (night tickets are about €1 more expensive).

Students get a 20% discount, and if you plan on taking the bus often, you can get a daily ticket for €10, giving you unlimited rides for the day!

If you want to check the specific ticket price for your route, you can see all the ticket fares here.

Paros KTEL Bus Timetables (Local)

Since timetables are only released roughly 1 month ahead, it’s difficult for us to stay up to date, so definitely double-check on the Official KTEL Website.

The number of routes also varies, depending on the season.

In the high season (summer), there are a ton of buses – we’re talking 30+ trips between Naoussa and Parikia. This dwindles to about 10 buses in the low season (winter), but they never stop completely.

Here are some of the most common routes and their timetables this summer!

Golden Beach is the most popular place to visit on the southwest coast. It’s actually the windsurfing capital of Greece and has some awesome beach bars and romantic beachfront villas!

Naoussa to Kolymbithres

This route only runs in the summer and takes tourists from Naoussa to Paros’ most popular beach, Kolymbithres.

We have to admit that it’s not our favorite beach in Paros, just because it gets so crowded during the high season, but it is beautiful and worth seeing at least once!

Naoussa to Kolimpithres (Kolymbithres): 10:30, 13:30, 15:00, 17:30, 19:30

Is There A Paros Airport Bus?

Yes, there is a bus service from Paros Airport to Parikia, but you’ll have to make a connection here if you want to go anywhere else, like Naoussa, Piso Livadi, Aliki, or Lefkes.

So, just be aware that you’ll need to buy two separate tickets.

Airport Timetables:

Paros Airport to Parikia: 7:25, 9:00, 11:20, 12:20, 13:20, 14:50, 16:50, 18:20, 20:20

The city tries to match bus tickets with incoming flights, so you should be good to go.

However, because there is no guarantee, and we don’t want to be stuck waiting around for hours, we prefer to prearrange our airport transfer.

More Ways To Get Around Paros

Outside of using the buses in Paros, there are several other ways to get around. You can actually walk around some of the larger villages, and tons of taxis, rental cars, and even scooters for hire offer more flexibility than taking buses everywhere in Paros.

Walking

Parikia and Naoussa are both very walkable cities. Although we use a rental car 90% of the time, we still like to walk to most places within town because it’s really beautiful, and parking can be challenging.

Rent Your Own Vehicle

We always book a rental car while staying in Paros. It’s not that expensive, especially during the shoulder season, and we just can’t give up its flexibility. We can go where we want, when we want, and stay as late as we want. It’s perfect, and driving in Paros is also a breeze.

If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, you could also consider renting a scooter or an ATV to get around. It’s dry enough in the summer that you won’t need to worry about rain, and this totally solves the parking issue.

Take Taxis

Taxis are available almost everywhere in Paros but are significantly more expensive than buses.

No matter where you’re trying to go on the island, expect the taxi to cost at least €10. It’s actually more likely to be between €25 and € 35 for an intercity trip.

This is fine for groups of friends or families, but it starts to add up quickly for couples or solo travelers.

Final Thoughts

Navigating both of Paros’ Bus Stations (Parikia & Naoussa) is very straightforward. If you’re stressed about it, we assure you that you don’t need to be a professional traveler to figure it out!

Then, you can use the money you save to take a boat tour, book a more luxurious place to stay, or enjoy a couple of fancy dinners in Naoussa.

All that said, we still get a rental car every time in Paros because it makes our lives so much easier! I hope this helps you feel more confident, and we hope you enjoy one of the best islands in Greece!
